You flip to the fourth page. Unusually, there is a note attached to the bottom of the page. It appears to be written by someone other than the author. You decide to read it afterward.
I was born in the library, a serf of Tarstic City. It was rare to come across beings of other worlds, but they existed, there in the city. They would come and go, usually merchants, sometimes not. These beings come from different entrances to the library, from their own worlds. Often, I hear of worlds of finite space to colonize. They speak of an infinite cosmos, unreachable and empty, only a small, spherical land at its center to roam. This kind of land is unbelievable to me, but I have trust that the beings who've spoken time and time again are not liars—at least not most of them.
During my time in Tarstic City, I once came across an Entrance myself. I witnessed one, rather. It appeared within the outer courtyard: a blue fixture, existing within the air, but without physical form. A large, green creature emerged from the fixture. It was not an intelligent being, a primal one. From a distance I watched as the Tarstic Watchmen fought it. It was their job but I had never seen them do anything myself.
The creature was aggressive. It lashed at the men with, something. Claws, I believe. They seemed to drift in and out of existence like dreams as they tore into the mens' armor. The Watchmen pushed the creature back through the fixture, sealing it with a Tarstic card—I was too far to tell what kind.
The Fixture—that's what I call this type of Entrance. They manifest from thin air and distort surrounding reality. They can take many different appearances, making them hard to identify immediately. I recommend keeping your distance from Fixtures; they can be unstable or unpredictable.
There are other forms of Entrances. I have seen none of these with my own eyes, but I have talked to many travelers who have. I can describe what I have heard.
Black Doors: these are very rare. Only a handful of times have I come across people who've seen one. They are rectangular passageways, appearing in place of any normal door. Light cannot pass through, creating a deep, black void. This is how it appears on both sides. Beings from other words stumble across a Black Door; if compelled to travel through, they will appear in the Librorum, and the door will close behind them.
Next, I feel inclined to mention the Abyss. There's only one, as far as I am aware. It exists within the Cexta region, near the south bend. The halls of the library open up into a deep, stone shaft that stretches vertically, upward and downward, far beyond where anyone I've known has gone. If one enters the Abyss, they will fall deep into the darkness before appearing within another world at random. After an amount of time, one will be ripped back into the library, pulled through from the upward end of the Abyss. One must acquire some method of slowing their fall in order to exit safely, lest they travel through the Abyss into another world once more. The amount of time one can spend within another world before being taken back through the Abyss varies; between a few hours and a few days is common. No one has discerned a pattern to how the Abyss decides when it will pull one back.
There are a few other single locations where one can pass through to another world. It is not my intention to list all of them. The Abyss is the only I feel is significant enough to describe here; the promise of eventual return to the library is significantly enticing to adventurers.
Although not technically an Entrance, I will mention the Waterways, an Exit to the library. They appear as common water wells, inexplicably resting atop hard wood floors. If one peers into a Waterway, they will see another world, and they may travel through if they wish. Anything on the other side will find itself unable to enter through the well into the Librorum. It would appear as if the entity is obstructed by an invisible barrier, flat atop the well.
The Waterways are not exits. Do not trust this tome.
