Archivists

If you value privacy, you might want to listen for the sound of light rustling. If you hear it, one of these things might be following you. They are called by many names: "Library Stalkers", "Writing Eyes", "those creeps who watched me taking a shower", etcetera. They are most commonly known as "Archivists".

They take the form of thick books, with yellowing pages and purple, leathery covers. A violet human face is stretched over the front of the cover, which is devoid of eyes, hair, and teeth. Fifteen hairy legs stretch out from the back, and jut out like sticks, making them stand taller than most humans. Each one of them carries a quill in one of their arms, and a blank tome in the other.

Archivists are rarely seen alive. They're fast, and hide in small crevices and complete darkness. They skitter around, looking for something to follow. When they find someone, they stalk them. As you can probably tell by the nickname "Library Stalker," they will watch everything you do if you're so unlucky as to have one on your tail. As they observe for days, weeks, and even years, they will gradually write in the empty tomes they carry. As you sleep, they will sneak into your abode and write down a detailed description of you. Anything you do, they will write it down as if it was an H. G. Wells novel.

Finally, when the Archivist runs out of pages, it will dump the filled tome somewhere in the library. If you just so happen to stumble across a tome with your name on it, take it and hide it. Read it if you must, for it may contain some of your darkest secrets.
